National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings

Since 1 April, 2000 the Netherlands has a National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings. The Rapporteur reports on the nature and extent of human trafficking, and on the effects of anti-trafficking policies in the Netherlands. Click here for the reports.


Council of Europe

The Council of Europe launched a campaign to combat trafficking in human beings in 2006 under the slogan Human being - not for sale. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the extent of the problem of trafficking in human beings in Europe, among governments, parliamentarians, local and regional authorities, NGOs and civil society.


European Commission - Freedom, Security and Justice

The Europese Commissie is pushing forward harmonisation of national criminal laws and procedures in the Member States, covering jurisdiction, prosecution and the status of the victims in judicial proceedings.

INTERPOL aims to end the abuse and exploitation of human beings for financial gain. Especially women from developing countries and young children, because they are most vulnerable to trafficking, smuggling or sexual exploitation.

United Nations – Office on Drugs and Crimes

UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) designed The Global Programme against Trafficking in Human Beings (GPAT) and launched it in March 1999. GPAT assists Member States in their efforts to combat trafficking in human beings. It highlights the involvement of organized criminal groups in human trafficking.
